    CITY OF CAMPBELL FISCAL CHALLENGE

  • WHERE: Campbell City Hall
  • WHAT: The City of Campbell has been dealing with budget challenges for all but two years since Fiscal Year 2004. Even after many rounds of cuts, a projected ongoing budget shortfall of about $2 million led the City to initiate an outreach effort in early 2008 to hear from residents. Unfortunately, since that the time, the economy has deteriorated further and City revenues have plummeted - with sales tax revenue alone estimated to be $2 million below projections. On February 22, 2010, an update on the current budget and projections for the next five years were presented to the City Council. Ongoing budget deficits of between $2-3 million are anticipated in each of the out years. This is not a sustainable situation and staff is currently working on developing a budget correction strategy. You can access numerous items related to the City of Campbell budget situation by using the link below.
